The Policy Dilemma
“BE THE POLICYMAKER YOU WISH TO SEE”
Get ready to get on a 'political' ride of policies and their dilemmas! Getting into the shoes of the Syrian Goverment, putting the Obama thinking cap on, or playing Putin, this fun filled event has it all to test your policy judgements!
Woven into an interesting snakes and ladders format, this event will test your application of policies depending on whether you are a Feudal, Marxist, Capitalist or... well, somewhere in between.
The event will consist of two rounds.
Woven into an interesting snakes and ladders format, this event will test your application of policies depending on whether you are a Feudal, Marxist, Capitalist or... well, somewhere in between.
The event will consist of two rounds.
Round I
An online multiple choice question test which will consist of questions based on concepts of economics which will be useful in the subsequent rounds.
Round II
The shortlisted teams will then reach the second round. This round will consist of elections in 5 different countries each with 3 political parties contesting. The allotment of country- political party will be based on random selection and will be assigned one week prior to the fest.
Participants will be provided with background information and will have to address any 3 major issues in the election speech. Each party will be given 5 minutes to present their election manifesto and can use only blackboard and chalk to assist their speech (No powerpoints/video/electronic medium allowed). The audience will then cast their votes to elect one party in power in each country. These will move on the next round.
Round III
The game will consist of 5 countries (each having 3 members each) who are working through situations with 3 economic instruments that they would be provided. They will be making policy decisions that will affect not only them but also other countries playing the game. The policy decisions they make will be quantified to give the number of steps they move forward.
The goal of the game is to reach the finish line and the first one to reach it wins. The path is strewed with snakes and ladders which are external positive/negative shocks to the economy.
